About Us
Where Music Lives Beyond the Stage
The India International Indigenous Music Collective — Bharat Vishwa Baithak Movement is a cultural movement dedicated to preserving, celebrating and creating a future for India's indigenous music, traditional instruments and the communities that have carried these art forms across generations.
India's musical heritage does not live only on celebrated stages. It lives in villages, tribal communities, deserts, mountains, forests, temples, homes and small gatherings where music has travelled from one generation to another through memory rather than manuscripts.
Across the country are extraordinary musicians, instrument makers, folk singers and traditional performers whose art is inseparable from the history and identity of their communities. Many play instruments unique to a particular region or tradition. Yet as livelihoods disappear, younger generations move away from hereditary art forms and opportunities to perform become scarce, many of these musical traditions risk fading away.
The Bharat Vishwa Baithak Movement was created to ensure that these voices are heard, respected and carried forward.

The word “Baithak” reflects the spirit at the heart of the initiative — people sitting together, listening, learning, sharing and allowing music to create connections beyond geography, language, generation and social boundaries.

The objective is not to change indigenous music to make it relevant.

The People Behind the Music
Artists First, Always
At the centre of the movement are the artists themselves — the singers, instrumentalists, storytellers, craftspeople and families who have protected these traditions, often without recognition or economic security.
The movement believes cultural sustainability must also mean human sustainability. Saving an instrument while the musician who plays it cannot sustain a livelihood is not preservation.
Creating dignity, opportunity and continuity for traditional artists is therefore fundamental to the mission.
They come carrying instruments, traditions, communities and generations of stories with them.
